Dear parents and carers,
This week at Monkton Wood Academy, we have been holding Remembrance assemblies with all year groups. Ms Martin, associate assistant principal, has spoken about the messages of service, courage and selflessness that we have learnt from all of those who have defended and protected our nation’s freedom, democracy and way of life in conflicts since the First World War. In tutor time, our students have been encouraged to discuss and reflect on the ways they can be of service to their community and to the other people in their life, and to demonstrate the values of courage and selflessness. We have also been creating our own poppies to form our Sea of Remembrance, which will be completed on Armistice Day.
On Monday 11th November, the whole academy will join the rest of the nation in a two-minute silence at 11.00am. We would also like to invite any of our students that are members of the armed services (Cadets, Sea Cadets, etc) or the Scout and Guiding movement, to wear their uniform to school on Monday.
With thanks and best wishes,
Mrs H. Jones
Principal
