Parent Update 13.2.26

13 February 2026

Dear parents and families,

As we reach the end of this half term, we have a few updates and notices for all families. In particular, we would like to congratulate our Year 11 students on reaching the end of the first week of this PPE (‘mock’ exam) series. It is such an important time in the preparations for final exams, which will rush towards us after the half-term break. If your child is in Year 11, please do continue to encourage and support them as the revise during the holiday, as well as to take rests and breaks. Don’t forget to direct your child towards the MCAS app and their Teams account to find the resources and activities suggested by their teachers.

In this letter:

Key dates for next term and the year ahead

Key dates
The first day back for students after the February half term break is Tuesday 24 February. Although our school is open for staff training on the Monday, please bear in mind that our reception staff are also involved in training events and so we will have limited capacity to answer telephone calls or emails.

Thursday 05 March is World Book Day, and we will be planning events and competitions to celebrate our love of reading. Your child/ren should have received a WBD voucher from their tutor this week. Please do enjoy spending that over the half-term break. We look forward to hearing about the books the children have read.

The week commencing 09 March 2026 is the Big Week of Maths, with events and competitions happening in Maths lessons and beyond.

Our first parents evening of the term is for Year 7 on Wednesday 11 March between 4.00pm and 7.00pm. Further details will follow to Year 7 families from Mrs Daw.

Friday 20 March 2026 is an INSET staff training day, so we will be closed to all year groups.

Year 11 have their second parents evening of the year on Wednesday 25 March, with more details to follow from Ms Darley.

The final week of term sees our SPACE VI form students performing their drama piece, Animal Farm, over two nights on the 31 March and 01 April as part of our annual SPACE Fest.

Don’t forget that the last day day of term 3 is Thursday 02 April, with the first day of the Easter Holidays being the Good Friday bank holiday.

If you are dreaming of sunshine, beaches and escape from this relentless rain, and are tempted to book a holiday, please do visit our school website where our term dates for 2026-27 are now published.

Wishing you all the best for a fun and relaxing half-term break.
Mrs H. Jones
Principal
