Dear Parent/Carers,
Having looked at the weather forecast for the remaining weeks of term, we are expecting more hot weather. Whilst we are not expecting the weather to be as hot as it was in June, we wanted to let you know we will be adjusting our uniform for the remaining weeks of term.
We have received a number of parental communications regarding uniform, and so I wanted to provide you with some clarity. Our uniform policy already allows for tailored shorts. We wrote to you during the June heatwave about our uniform adjustments, and trust that this has given you enough time to source suitable items. This does mean that our PE shorts and skorts will not be part of this uniform adjustment.
Having looked at our PE kit, we also believe that our black, polyester PE tops are actually hotter to wear than our white cotton school shirts. This is the reason that we are continuing with this measure and not moving to full PE kit for this period of warmer weather. Students will not be required to wear their ties and can unbutton the top of their shirts to help with airflow.
We are also continuing to provide additional water stations for the students to fill up their water bottles around the site and will open up the air-conditioned classrooms we have during lunchtimes to provide students respite from the heat. We are also continuing to look at our sports day provision, to ensure that we can run this safely for all staff and students.
