SLT / Year 10 Mocks letter – June 2023 13 June 2024
Dear Parent/Carer
I am contacting to inform you of some important information about the upcoming assessments for Year 10 students. Assessments for the core subjects, to include Mathematics, English and Science, will be undertaken in the Sports Hall as Pre-Public Examinations. Our aim is to begin preparing students for the GCSE experience.
We ask for your support by ensuring that your child is taking this process seriously by preparing appropriately through revision and attending school each day to ensure they are not missing out on key knowledge. They must make sure they are prepared with the following equipment during the mock week:
Black pens
Pencils
Ruler
Rubber sharpener
Scientific calculator (maths calculator papers and science only)
Clear pencil case
Water in clear bottle
Please see the final exam timetable has been shared with students and sent out to parents.
It is very important that students are on time to school, students should line up on the hard court in tutor
groups in register order prior to the PPEs, from there they will be led into the sports hall in exam conditions. Students will be informed about seats for the assessments prior to the exam, any students with access arrangements will be in classrooms.
While we want the students to take this process seriously, and to try their best, we intend this to be a chance for students to share what they know rather than be a stressful experience for them. During tutor time we have been teaching students’ practical techniques for supporting their revision and managing their workload. Revision materials have been made available to students through Teams.
To further support our students in preparing for these upcoming assessments the English and Maths department have provided the following details in guiding revision and preparation.
